The North York Astros made their first playoff  appearance in six years count in style Sunday afternoon as they dominated Burlington SC 4-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the Canadian Soccer League.  Astros opened the scoring at the 39th minute when Igor Pisanjuk found the back of the Burlington net. The fan celebration ramped up even more 4 minutes later when Jose Melo improved the lead to two.  Melo’s goal took them into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

The score remained 2-0 until late in the second half because of some stellar saves by Burlington keeper  Vladimir Vujasinovic who turned away several scoring chances by the Astros. At the 78 minute mark Jose DeSousa finally solved Vujasinovic and increased the lead to three with Markus Jankovic putting it out of reach 5 minutes later at the 83rd minute.

The Astros now go on to play York Region Shooters on Sunday Afternoon at 6:00 pm in Maple which should be a close playoff affair as the two battled to a draw only a few weeks ago.  Astros are hoping to advance to the CSL Finals as they are this years host to the Finals on October 26th at Esther Shiner.
