The Astros triumphed over Brampton SC United with a closely fought 1-0 win as they edged closer towards the playoffs. Astros player Igor Pisanjuk scored the decisive goal in the 66th minute from the penalty spot.
A tightly contested first half saw chances few and far between as both teams failed to break the deadlock. The Astros, who were missing several key players through injury and suspension, finally managed to break down the Brampton defence as Igor slotted home calmly from the spot to give his team three vital points. The game broke down towards the end of the second half as Brampton lost their cool and had two players sent off in quick succession.
The win takes the Astros within touching distance of the CSL playoffs, with four games left to play. They host Toronto Croatia next, where a win may be enough to seal a playoff berth. The game will be played at The Esther Shiner Stadium on Sunday, September 14 at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are available online and at the stadium.
Astros are hosting this years CSL Finals at Esther Shiner Stadium and are hoping to play a bigger role than host in the 2014 Finals. The finals and Awards night Gala are set for October 25th and 26th.
