
North York took a 2-0 lead early in the game with Brampton Lions at Esther Shiner Stadium when forwards Gersi Xhuti scored his second goal of the season at 11 minutes and Jarek Whiteman followed with his first goal of the season four minutes later. Forward David Guzman scored the first of two goals for Brampton at the 39th minute mark for a 2-1 score in favour of the Astros at half-time.
Brampton forward Alex Arbello scored from a free kick into the top corner of the net at 55 minutes to tie the score at 2-2 and just one minute later Guzman scored his second for the Lions and eighth for the season to put the visitors ahead 3-2. Midfielder Agustin de Medina struck for Brampton at 60 minutes for a 4-2 lead, but the Astros fought back to score a third goal, reducing the Brampton lead to 4-3 when Nick Miodrag beat Lions’ goalkeeper Kevin Doyle at the 79th minute mark.
The game was still in doubt at the 90 minute mark and it was three minutes into added time when Brampton’s Jeremy Shepherd put the ball past Astros’ goalkeeper Euloge Awitor for a 5-3 Brampton Lions victory.
The game was broadcasted on Saturday at 8pm on Rogers TV.
North York Astros next home game is on August 22 versus London City at Esther Shiner Stadium. Kick off is set for 8pm.
