Youth Camp

The Canadian Soccer League Youth Development Program will kick off an indoor schedule mid – November to start an all year round academy program structured to provide competition, high calibre skills training in a professional environment to provide the players an opportunity to excel and accelerate their progress in the sport.

Like in Europe and in South America, each age division will be classified into two groups – regular and advanced.  This will allow the better players to advance one age group and allow the remaining players to stay in the same age group for an extra year of additional needed development. This structure allows the better players to advance as soon as possible, depending on their pace of skill development and body growth.

The proposed academy age divisions are:

U11-U12

U13-U14

U15-U16

U17-U18

U21

This structure will allow the youth soccer player to be part of a professional program from ages U11 right up to men’s - the way it is done in big soccer countries Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, England, Holland, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay etc.

If your child aspires to play soccer at the highest level in a soccer structure that is modeled after top European and South American soccer programs, then the Canadian Soccer League Youth Development Program is the one for you. Whether it is for scholarship opportunities, playing professional soccer in North America or playing in Europe or South America, the Canadian Soccer League Youth Development Program is the place to be.

COMPARE THE ADVANTAGES

The Canadian Soccer League Youth Development Program offers the soccer player the best opportunity of reaching their soccer goals in one of the highest professional soccer environments available in Canada.

1.   There will only be five age divisions.

2.   There will be a Director of Football overseeing all the youth players and teams.

3.   There will be experienced coaches (ex professionals players) running practices and overseeing games.

4.   The player will “belong to the club” and not “to a team” or to a “coach.” This will prevent the best players from being held back in order to make the coach or the team “look good.” The best players will get promoted ASAP.

5.   The majority of games will be on weekends thus assuring enough practice nights per game played. Playing games during the week does not allow for efficient practice sessions.

The Canadian Soccer League First Division and Reserve Division along with the TFC Academy and Montreal Impact Academy have already been drawing the very best talented soccer players between the ages of 15 - 21. Now the CSL will draw on the very best soccer talent from ages U11 - U21. The main focus on the CSL Youth Division is on player development, getting the player ready for their next stage of development; either for a soccer scholarship, playing professionally in North America or playing in Europe. In Europe the very best 16, 17 and 18 year old soccer players are already playing on First Division teams or Reserve Teams and are no longer playing against “youth teams.” Some young players at 18 even make it to their national Team.

The North York Astros as a member club of the Canadian Soccer League are now accepting applications from all interested players ages U11 to U21 for the 2010-2011 indoor season.
